Welcome to UNYAKA FESTIVAL 2018 😍

Gather your tribe for another foot stomping outdoor party to bring in the new year πŸ’œ πŸ¦„

β—‰ UNYAKA 🍎
Unyaka means “YEAR” in the native tongue of the tribes that inhabited the land long before we stomped our party feet upon it, and UNYAKA festival will always be celebrated on the arrival of the New Years Eve, on a KZN naturescape under the stars, respecting the heritage and beauty of the land, whilst stomping our feet towards a brilliant future. Awakened. Enlightened. Thumping. πŸ€

This year NYE falls on a Monday, and we know everyone is gonna be chomping right through their bits come Sunday. The music will stop at some point not toooo late on the first night, to prevent false starting for the main NYE event the next night, but will be enough to have a great night and pre party whilst getting in the mood for the NYE chaos πŸ’₯ πŸ”₯ πŸ‘½

Situated again at Giba Gorge MTB Park, the festival is remarkably close, at only 25 minutes from Durban it really is practical enough to take an Uber or get dropped off if you don’t have transport, yet it offers a complete nature sanctuary away from the city & suburbs. With exquisitely manicured gardens, lushly decorated with lighting and psychedelic patterns, the venue is an amazing outdoor festival arena.

1. Take the N3
2. Exit 23
3. Head direction Marianhill
4. Turn at Weighbridge
5. Follow the windy road through the countryside
6. Enter the dirt road

FOOLPROOF your navigation to the venue by checking out the time lapse video of the entire route to the venue from Durban, compressed into a couple minutes. https://youtu.be/jzraD4jKlpQ

Camping is FREE and car parking is FREE. However, in order to accommodate the slightly larger crowds, and longer festival times this year, a few small but important changes are needed:

The most important change to note is that parking a car in the camping zone will now cost R230 and is limited to 200 vehicles. This is simply intended to control the numbers of unnecessary vehicles cluttering up the camp site, and occupying space for additional campers. Sometimes several cars are parked in the best spots, even though not a single one is actually camping. And so this small change will allow us to use the space in the camping zone more efficiently. We’d advise one vehicle per cluster of tents, where mates in a group can share the single vehicle to secure valuables, charge phones, and other advantages, whilst keeping as much space clear as possible for other campers.

Camping is still free, and there’s no limit or restriction on the number of tents in your group. And car parking is still free, there’s no limit to the number of cars, provided they are in the carpark.
